Beth Miller, an 18 year old girl from a small town with a huge talent answers our questions in her first exclusive interview since winning the X-factor! She talks to us about her family, love life and future plans after becoming a singing sensation…
Hi Beth, nice to see you! What’s life been like since you won the X-Factor?
“It’s been an amazing experience. It’s weird how I get noticed whenever I go out now, people are always asking for autographs and pictures, it’s such a shock! My life’s really busy at the moment but I’m loving every second of it.”
You’re only 18, so it must be such a change to go from school to this hectic lifestyle! What do your friends and family think of it?
“They’re really supportive and are excited for me. They understand that I am always very busy and have to travel a lot and I’m so thankful that they’re all here for me! I obviously try and spend as much time as I can with them, I can’t be away from my friends and family for too long! They also keep me grounded. I’ll never turn into a diva.”
You’ve had quite a lot of male attention recently haven’t you Beth!
“It’s such a surprise to be constantly told that I’m attractive because I was always insecure about my looks. At the start of secondary school I was bullied because I was a bit chubby and had wonky teeth! I hope other young girls like me realise that everyone has something that they don’t like about their body and they just have to learn to accept themselves because everyone’s different!”
Have any pop singers inspired you to make use of your talents and follow your dreams?
“Jessie J is my inspiration. I’ve always been a fan of hers from day 1 and I felt that her song Who’s Laughing Now related to me and really made me feel proud of my success. I’ve proved myself to the bullies. I was so happy when I met her in the X-Factor and got to perform with her, I was star struck!”
You’re going on the X-Factor tour soon, are you excited about travelling round the country and performing with your fellow finalists?
“I can’t wait to be reunited with all of them! During the whole process, from the auditions to the finals, I made some really good friends and became close with a lot of them! I know we’re all going to keep in touch. But I will miss my family and dogs, BoBo and Toby. I’ll make sure I talk to my family and friends everyday on tour it’s hard being away from them!”
Speaking of getting close with others, there’s been rumours that you got a bit ‘close’ with fellow finalist Marvin in the X-Factor house! What’s the truth behind that?
(Beth laughs and blushes) “There’s no truth behind that at all, really! Me and Marvin were just really good friends and got on really well. We were both struggling to cope with being away from our homes for so long, as we both come from small towns so could help each other out. There is no romance on the cards for us at the moment!”
That’s what they all say! You said you were from a small, countryside town. Any plans to move to London?
“I love being at home with my family, it’s my favourite place! I’m an outdoorsy girl so I love nature and going on walks in the local fields with my dogs. It’s getting really hectic at the moment so when I’m not on tour I plan to move to somewhere more accessible because I’m always on the road… not too far away from home though! I really love London, I’m obviously up there quite a lot and even though I love the country side it’s a nice change to be in a big city, especially with all the shops!”
