TEXTUAL ANALYSIS

DOUBLE PAGE SPREAD ANALYSIS
1) NME
The double page spread for NME features an interview with mainstream singer Example, who many young people are fond of. The main title is circled around a high angle, mid long shot image of Example . "The world according to Example" immediately informs readers that the interview will be a general discussion of things in his opinion. The small headings above each section of text show this, with factors like David Cameron, The X Factor and the death of Gaddafi being discussed. Even though this is aimed towards a younger generation, it shows they discuss things to do with politics too, but it's balanced by lighthearted joke-like quotes such as "It'd be cool tot have shot Gaddafi." The colour scheme is complementary colours of pink and white with black text. The colours are bright but not too informal, and the layout still has an organised sense to it, with a section in the middle featuring A-list celebrities, who he has annoyed.
2)Record Collector
The double page spread in Record Collector includes much more text than NME's double page spread, as it is targeted at an older generation and is a collectible magazine so the audience will want to actually read and take in the information, whereas in the other one they want quick bits of information and lighthearted jokes. The main title varies in font, with the words 'starting a' in a small, black, serif font. The main word that is focused on is 'riot' which is in a much thicker, larger, black font. There is a brief introduction section before the article begins, and the only other bit of colour on the page is a small image and little part taken out of the text in thick red font. The main colours used are black white and a bit of red, just like NME. Looking at the layout of this double page spread, the organised style of it shows it's for an older audience.
